Exeter International Airport is an airport in southwest England, located about 5 miles east of the city of Exeter. Over 1 million passengers passed through the airport in 2007, making it the 24th busiest airport in the UK and the 3rd busiest in the southwest of England, after Bristol and Bournemouth, for that year. The bulk of air traffic at the airport comes from scheduled and charter flights departing for European holiday and city break destinations. About a dozen domestic routes are offered from Exeter, including important services to the Channel Islands and Isles of Scilly. The airport also offers a regular air link to Toronto in Canada.

The airport is a major base for low-cost carrier Flybe; in fact, the bulk of flights to and from Exeter International Airport are provided by the airline. Flybe offers scheduled flights over 25 domestic and European locations such as Aberdeen, Belfast, Bergerac, Dubrovnik, Geneva, Inverness, Malaga, Manchester, Newcastle, Paris and Salzburg. Air Transat and Isles of Scilly Skybus are other airlines currently offering scheduled flights from Exeter International Airport; they fly to Toronto-Pearson and the Isles of Scilly respectively. Thomson Airways is the charter carrier with the largest presence at Exeter Airport. It provides seasonal services to holiday destinations such as Lanzarote, Bodrum, Crete, Gran Canaria, Ibiza and Tenerife. Other charter airlines offering flights from Exeter include Air Malta, BH Air, Onur Air and Spanair.

Travel between the airport and central Exeter is relatively straightforward. There are regular bus services running between city centre and the terminal building. Route numbers and detailed timetable information are available on the airport website. Exeter’s main railway station is around 5 miles from the airport so travellers making the journey by train will need to catch a bus or taxi between the station and airport.

If you can’t find flights to Exeter International Airport, the closest alternative airports are Bristol, Bournemouth, Plymouth and Southampton.
