Guernsey Airport is an international airport serving the island of Guernsey in the English Channel. It is the only airport on the island and is located about 3 miles southwest of the islands capital, St. Peter Port. A new terminal building was unveiled in 2004 offering state-of-the-art facilities and, a first for any airport in the world, fairtrade stores. In 2007 the airport served 925,097 passengers, making it the 2nd busiest airport in the Channel Islands (after Jersey) and the 25th busiest in the UK for that year. Most of the air traffic at Guernsey Airport comes from scheduled carriers flying to domestic locations on the UK mainland and a handful of international destinations in Europe. The island is an important financial centre and as a result, a significant proportion of the flights to Guernsey Airport come from important financial centres in Germany and Switzerland.

Flybe and Lufthansa are perhaps the most internationally recognised scheduled carriers to offer flights from Guernsey Airport. Flybe offers flights to domestic and international locations such as Birmingham, Dublin, London, Manchester and Paris. Lufthansa provides flights from Guernsey to the German cities Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hanover and Munich. Aurigny Air Services and Blue Islands are smaller airlines that provide Guernsey with an important air link to other islands in the English Channel (Alderney, Jersey), alongside domestic and European destinations including Bristol, Dinard, Geneva, Isle of Man, London and Zurich. VLM Airlines is the sole charter airline at the airport; it offers seasonal charter flights from Guernsey to Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

Due to relatively small size of Guernsey, it is easy to make the journey between the airport and destinations across the island. Guernsey Airport is served by a regular bus service, plus taxis and hire cars are available at the terminal building.

If you are having trouble finding flights to Guernsey, then the nearest alternative airports in the English Channel are Jersey and Alderney. Bournemouth, Exeter and Southampton are the closest airports on the British mainland, while Dinard – Pleurtuit – Saint-Malo Airport is the closest on the European mainland.
