Jersey Airport is the largest airport in the Channel Islands. It handled almost 1.6 million passengers in 2007, making it the 21st busiest airport in the UK that year. The airport is located towards the west of the Jersey in the parish of Saint Peter, 5 miles northwest of St. Helier, the island capital. Before construction of the airport, flights to Jersey had landed on the beach at St. Aubin’s bay some 1.5 miles southeast of the current airfields location. The island is a popular tourist destination and there are regular scheduled flights to Jersey from airports all over the UK. As well as being a holiday hotspot, Jersey is regarded as one of the worlds leading offshore financial centres, because of this a considerable amount of air traffic between Jersey Airport and important financial destinations in Germany, Switzerland and the UK. Scheduled airlines serving the airport also offer flights from Jersey to destinations in France, Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. The airport is also a popular hub for general aviation; a terminal at the airport, Aviation Beauport, is used predominantly for general aviation flights.

Flybe has the largest presence at the airport and offers scheduled flights from Jersey to most major airports in the UK as well as services to smaller airports such as Doncaster, Dundee, Humberside, Inverness, Kent-Manston, Southend and Norwich. Local airline Blue Skies also has a significant presence here and serves destinations including Alderney, Geneva, Guernsey and Zurich. British Airways, bmibaby, easyjet, Manx2, Jet2.com and Lufthansa are amongst the other airlines offering flights to and from Jersey. Seasonal flights to holiday and ski destinations also operate from the airport.
