London Luton Airport is one of the five international airports currently serving the London area. It is located in Bedfordshire, 35 miles north of Central London and about 1.5 miles east of the town of Luton. In 2007, London Luton Airport served close to 10 million passengers, making it the 5th busiest airport in the UK that year and the 4th busiest serving the London Area. Scheduled services to international destinations in Europe account for around 90% of the passenger traffic at London Luton. Charter Airlines serving European and intercontinental destinations account for the remaining passenger traffic here. At present, there are flights from London Luton Airport to over 30 domestic and international destinations. The airport is also served by executive aviation and cargo airlines.

London Luton Airport is an important hub for low-cost airlines easyjet, Ryanair, Wizz Air and charter carriers Monarch Airlines and Thomsonfly. Easyjet offers the largest range of scheduled services at the airport; it currently provides flights from London Luton to destinations such as Aberdeen, Athens, Berlin, Bordeaux, Dortmund, Glasgow, Hamburg, Istanbul, Krakow, Lisbon and Zurich. Ryanair and Wizz Air fly to numerous European destinations including Biarritz, Bucharest, Budapest, Dublin, Girona, Kyiv, Lviv, Malta, Marrakech, Nimes, Prague, Sofia, Warsaw and Zagreb. Aer Arann, Flybe and Sky Europe also offer scheduled flights from London Luton Airport.

Charter airlines Thomson Airways and Thomsonfly both have a considerable presence at London Luton and provide seasonal services to holiday hotspots across Southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Some of the destinations they fly to include Bodrum, Corfu, Ibiza, Malaga, Rhodes, Sharm el-Sheikh, Tenerife, Tel Aviv and Zakynthos. Other charter airlines offering flights from London Luton Airport include Monarch Airlines, SunExpress and Thomas Cook Airlines.

London Luton Airport boasts good transport links so travelling to/from the airport and your starting point/final destination won’t be a problem. The airport is served by Luton Airport Parkway railway station; a shuttle service connects the station with the airport terminal. Regular bus services also operate between the airport and Central London. Full transport details and timetables can be found on the airport website.

If you can’t find flights to London Luton Airport, then the closest alternative airport is London Stansted, which is about 30 miles to the east. Due to good transport links, Luton can be easily reached from the other airports serving the capital (Gatwick, Heathrow and London City).
